The new high-rise building in the Grasbrook neighbourhood is designed as a breathing house. As an inhabited structure, it can accommodate and flexibly facilitate different living, working and participation scenarios.
A spatial and load-bearing structure enables freely combinable multi-storey flats or cluster flats on one or two storeys. Rooms can be flexibly allocated to specific flats or shared by several parties.
Within the structure, the two-storey cluster flat is the most prominent form of housing. As in an immeuble-villa by Le Corbusier, a green loggia with a two-storey living hall, the 'Portego', forms the centre for large residential communities of all ages. This is where people cook and eat, and where the residents find a beautiful place of community.
The two-storey loggias form a special accent in the urban space.
In this way, the tower block does justice to its prominent urban location within the new Grasbrook neighbourhood in the master plan by Vogt Landschaftsarchitekten.
